The Reformation

We believe that true reformation is not just about creeds and catechisms, but transformation of
the mind into the mind of the living God. Theological positons abound on the internet and we
only wish to endorse those are true to the Word of God.

Monergism

As a result of the proliferation of a large variety of questionable theology, it has become nearly impossible to exhaustively address every theological error. Instead, this site is an attempt to direct the user to essays, articles, books and multimedia resources of historical, Christian orthodoxy. This is done in the hope that the church at large might embrace and recover the true Biblical doctrines of her own historic faith. Monergism is an attempt to mine, gather, organize and distinguish "must have" articles, books, audio resources and sermons from those not worth your time. It takes some effort to excavate these gems, but since we have not read everything to which the links point I still suggest that you use discernment when reading. These links are not necessarily a positive endorsement nor do all essays exhaustively reflect our views. Nonetheless, we believe you will find most essays to accurately reflect historic Christianity and to be quite distinct from much of what passes today for Christian biblical exegesis.

Modern Reformation

Modern Reformation began in 1989 as a small newsletter of Christians United for Reformation (CURE), an organization founded by Modern Reformation’s editor-in-chief, Michael Horton, to promote a new Reformation in American Christianity. CURE served as a vehicle for reminding American evangelicals of their biblical roots and the rich faith and practice recovered during the Protestant Reformation that had been largely abandoned in the mad dash to relevance. As CURE grew in influence, the organization needed a magazine to explicate timeless Christian doctrines in a timely publication. Borrowing the name of the newsletter, Modern Reformation debuted in magazine format in 1992.
